Judith swims for Swim4Brains
- 10 March 2026
As a child Judith van t Ende-van Pietersom drank so much pool water during swimming lessons that a swimming career ended early. Still on 23 August she took on the challenge of swimming across the IJsselmeer with five colleagues from Yellowtail Conclusion. In a relay they swam 22 kilometres to raise money for Swim4Brains.
Swimming for a good cause
When Yellowtail Conclusion became the main sponsor of Swim4Brains Judith decided to join as a personal challenge and to get fitter after a period of health problems. The swimming team consisted of six people with Judith as the only woman.
Eight months of hard training
Together with Robin Bouman Max Goldman Maarten Kranenburg Mark Leck Joel Scholten and coaches Edwin Lodder Stefanie Kammeraad-Poelmann and Fabiënne Brunet she trained for eight months first in a pool and later in open water. The training sessions were tough and focused on technique fitness and strength.
The swimmers were prepared for the fact that open water swimming is physically but certainly also mentally demanding. The conditions on 23 August meant that the swimmers were pushed to their limits. They had to deal with showers strong winds and high waves. This created a physical but above all mental challenge.
“We really braved it together
”
A real team effort
“In the end we all crossed the finish line together. We really braved it together. And the great thing is that every swimmer has their own story. So whether you swam a big part or not everyone pushed their limits. And of course with the good cause in mind.”
And pushing boundaries is exactly what the charity is about. The team from Yellowtail Conclusion raised 25,500 euros for people with brain conditions. For them very little is taken for granted. Even the smallest things can require huge mental and physical effort and perseverance.
Swim4Brains supports children and young people. The team from Yellowtail Conclusion sponsored a specific project called The Class. The Class helps a group of young people with acquired brain injury through coaching to get back into working life.
